New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter is having a standout season this year.  It has some people speculating that El Capitan could be using performance-enhancing drugs.

Derek Jeter is having a great season for the New York Yankees.  The 38-year old shortstop is hitting .324 with 13 home runs and 43 RBIs.  Jeter has hit home runs in each of the last three games against the White Sox.  It's the first time in Jeter's career that he has homered in three straight games.  Jeter's production, along with the fresh thought of Melky Cabrera and Bartolo Colon failing drug tests, has some people wondering if Derek Jeter is using performance-enhancing drugs as well.

ESPN's "First Take" host Skip Bayless believes that Jeter has possibly had some special assistance.  "I am shocked by what I'm seeing from Derek Jeter right now," Bayless said.  "They all said he was washed up.  All of a sudden, this man has turned 38 years of age in June and already he has more hits than he had last year.  Are you kidding me?  You would have to have your head in the sand or your head somewhere else not to at least wonder, 'How is he doing this?' "

Sure, Skip Bayless likes to stir stuff up and say ridiculous things from time to time.  However, in this day and age it isn't ridiculous to, at least, wonder if athletes are using PEDs.  Unfortunately, it's irresponsible to simply laugh off any talk of a player's potential drug involvement.  I don't believe Derek Jeter has used performance-enhancing drugs.  I don't know that to be a fact.  There is a difference.
