The Yankees and C.C. Sabathia made it clear this week that the veteran pitcher would be available possibly 15 days from now for New York. But is this a good thing?

"I think the Yankees are better off if he doesn’t come back," said SNY's Chris Carlin to 'Armen and Levack' on 104.5 The Team. "It eliminates a lot of issues. It eliminates who is going to leave the rotation, it eliminates the embarrassment for C.C. of having to leave the rotation."

One of the ideas is that Sabathia could be used as a reliever into September and October.

"If you’re putting him in the bullpen, what are you really going to get from him? It’s not a role he’s ever been in before. I just don’t think he’s the same pitcher at this point.

"No one has ever questioned his desire to contrbiute, to win, what he meant to the Yankees in 2009. But I think at this point, Sabathia’s career is really approaching it’s end."

'Armen and Levack' can be heard weekdays from 3-7p ET on 'Your Home for New York Sports', 104.5 The Team.
