The Syracuse Orange basketball team led by Hall of Famer Jim Boeheim has now won five games in a row in a highly competitive ACC. Two of those five victories include wins over then top ten ranked teams in Florida State and Virginia. After a sluggish start to the season, the Orange sit in a familiar spot in which they were in last season. The question on every Syracuse basketball fan's mind is this: Is this team's resume good enough to get them into the NCAA tournament?

As of now for me, the Orange are an "almost in the tournament" team. Other bracketologists like CBS Sports' Jerry Palm and ESPN's Joe Lunardi have the Orange on the brink of being in the field of sixty eight. Even for me, a born and bred Syracuse fan there is just too much to ignore working against the Orange. The buzzer beating win over Clemson and the victory over NC State just a few days ago are the only wins for Syracuse this season outside of the Carrier Dome. The Orange did suffer a thirty plus point loss to a now 11-14 St. John's team this season. Coach Jim Boeheim's team also suffered losses to both Georgetown and UConn this season. The Hoyas are barely above .500 overall (13-12) while the Huskies own a 10-12 record and rank seventh in a week AAC. The RPI (64) does work in favor for Syracuse but is not good enough for this team to get in? My road to clinching an NCAA tournament at large bid is below.
