Ivan Nova pitched a career game as the Yankees swept the Chicago White Sox 7-2. Russell Martin delivered the decisive hit as he smacked a 3-run home run in the game to lead the Yanks to their 7th straight victory.

I'll tell you the ONE thing the Yankees need to do against the Red Sox to win this upcoming series.

Yankees will be ready to go as they arrive at Fenway Park Friday night. They have moved into a tie with the Red Sox at top of the AL East standings thanks to their 7th straight win in Chicago. Of course, the Yankees are 1-8 against the Sox so far this season. Yankees have had their pitching and offense let them down in their losses to the Red Sox.

So the ONE thing the Yankees HAVE TO do against the Red Sox is to make their starters work. The Yankees have proven they can come after any team's bullpen. With Lester and Beckett going in this series, the Yankees need to drive up their pitch count and get into that Red Sox bullpen. The Yankees must be patient and do what they can to get on base.

The Yankees have been on an offensive tear the past few games and they seem to be hitting at the right time as they face their AL East rivals. The Yankees must keep their bats alive if they want any chance of winning this next series.

Yankees will have some tough decisions to make as it appears, despite his outstanding performance Thursday night, that Ivan Nova will once again be sent back down to Scranton to their AAA team. Nova went 7 2/3 innings giving up 6 hits, one run, and striking out a career-high ten (10) batters. The Yankees should be feeling good knowing they have him to back-up in case if one of their starters fizzles out or gets injured.

Again, the Yankees will face Jon Lester Friday night against Bartolo Colon,  followed by John Lackey on Saturday against CC Sabathia, and Josh Beckett against Freddy Garcia Sunday night. Of course you can hear each game on 104.5, The Team.
