Mariners starting pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma tossed the fifth no-hitter in Seattle Mariners history on Wednesday as the M's beat the Orioles 3-0 at Safeco Field.

Iwakuma was brilliant from start to finish, using his sinker and breaking stuff to induce ground balls and strikeouts.

The Japanese hurler became the second Japanese pitcher to toss a no-hitter (Hideo Nomo).

Iwakuma walked three and struck out seven. The final out was a lazy fly ball to Austin Jackson in center, but the play of the game came in the top of the ninth as well, when Kyle Seager raced into foul territory and caught a pop-up Willie Mays style.

Interestingly enough, the last three no-hitters in the American League have been thrown by the Mariners. Felix Hernandez tossed a perfect game in 2012 against Tampa Bay while six pitchers combined for a no-hitter in 2012 against the Dodgers.
