Jason Bay Released By Mets

Jason Bay has been released. The Mets and their $66 million bust have agreed to an “early expiration” of his contract, making him an unrestricted free agent. Details of the deal have not be specified.

In an official press release posted on the team website, GM Sandy Alderson praised Jason Bay for his team mentality and work ethic, but was firm in his stance that the the parties needed to part ways. “Unfortunately, the results weren’t there and we are in a results-oriented business.  We thank Jason for his efforts and wish him well.”
