The Mets have had a season so far filled with few positive headlines, with the exception of Jay Bruce. Bruce who was a major disappointment in the final month of last season and was the subject of trade rumors all spring training, is carrying the Mets offensively. In a season already filled with injuries the Mets are fortunate that Bruce is hitting home runs and driving in runs at a high rate. That's the reason they got him from Cincinnati in the first place.

Before Yoenis Cespedes' hamstring injury landed him on the disabled list, we saw flashes of what a Yo-Jay duo could be in the lineup. We all know how hamstring injuries can be nagging, but with Noah Syndergaard likely out until after the All-Star break and no timetable on Steven Matz's 2017 debut, the offense becomes all the more important and it could be the bats that are forced to carry the Mets.
