The crackdown is due to the number of pedestrians who have been struck and killed on the 15.4-mile stretch along Central Avenue through Albany and Colonie into Schenectady, where Route 5 becomes State Street. Two more have been killed so far this year and six people died last year.
"Since the beginning of June, 119 pedestrians have been ticketed on Central Avenue," said Lt. Rob Donnelly of Colonie police. He did not yet have numbers for Thursday's enforcement. Police also did not have data on the numbers of drivers ticketed for violations involving pedestrians. During a half hour observing the police activity, close to dozen pedestrians were ticketed.

Ok I get it it's dangerous but is ticketing people and making them pay a fine really nessassary. How bout Just good old "Hey moron you want to die cross at the light bone head.
