Major League Baseball took action against Angels pitcher Jered Weaver yesterday and handed him a 6 game suspension for his actions against Detroit on Sunday.

On Sunday things got very heated between Angels pitcher Jered Weaver and the entire Detroit Tigers team.  It all started when Carlos Guillen stood at home plate and watched his home run go out of the field.  he also stared down Weaver in the process.  Needless to say, that did not sit well with the pitcher and the next batter was sent a message.

Weaver threw a fast ball right over the helmet of Alex Avila.  Weaver was immediately ejected from the game but not before making a scene, which carried into the dug out.  He continued to scream at Guillen from across the field which is very out of character for Weaver, who is usually pretty laid back.

Baseball's a game of emotions, and I'm not one to let my emotions get the best of me...I've had a pretty calm career so far, but there are just some things that kind of cross the line. I thought that was one of those things, and I didn't want to sit back and take that. So I did what I did. I can't take it back. It happened, and obviously I've got to pay the repercussions for it.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia was also suspended for the 6 games as well.  Weaver is expected to appeal it. If you missed the moment, check it out here.
