The New York Jets have lost linebacker Bryan Thomas for the rest of the season with an Achilles tendon injury.

Thomas came out of Sunday's loss to Baltimore during the first quarter with an ankle injury. By the second quarter, the team announced that Thomas was out for the game.

Jets coach Rex Ryan didn't have any further information when he addressed the media after the game. Asked how severe he thought his injury was, Thomas spoke in a low voice. "I don't know at this point," he said Sunday night.

Thomas, who has been in the league for 10 seasons, will be a free agent next season. Thomas may not have the name recognition that some other Jets defensive players do, but he does a lot of the dirty work for the team.
