On Friday, it was confirmed by the NBA that Fredette was eligible for the NBA D-League draft. Saturday afternoon, the Knicks selected him.

Marc Berman of the New York Post reports that the odds of Fredette getting called up right now are not great, but at least he has an opportunity to prove himself and go from there.

Many basketball fans in the Capital Region have been hoping for Fredette to land with the home-state Knicks since he began his NBA career in 2011. The Glens Falls native was drafted by the Sacramento Kings with the 10th overall pick and has since bounced around to the Bulls and Pelicans over the last two seasons.

Most recently, Fredette was a member of the Spurs this summer and was cut within the last few weeks.
