The San Antonio Spurs are set to release Glens Falls native guard Jimmer Fredette, reports Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports.

Many thought that Gregg Popovich may be able to get something out of Fredette, but the former first rounder has been a failed project so far.The Spurs originally signed  him on July 22, and the 26-year old has played a total of 26 minutes this preseason and scored a measly four points.

After being a college star for BYU, his NBA career has been a struggle, averaging 13.7 minutes and 6.1 points in six seasons.
