Bad news for the Capital Region as favorite son Jimmer Fredette has officially been released by the San Antonio Spurs.

Michael Lee of Yahoo! Sports says that Fredette hasn't panned out in the NBA because he is unwilling to change his game.

"Jimmer thinks everybody is stupid," said an NBA assistant who worked with Fredette in Lee's piece. "He thinks everybody needs to come and just turn over their offense and let him shoot it anytime he wants. That's not how the league works."

The assistant also said this:

"He won't adjust his game for it," he said. "He'll tell you, 'This is what I did at BYU.' Well, BYU, that's a long time ago."

This seems contrary to what we know about Jimmer, who is known as a hard worker. However, we have to wonder if Fredette while working hard, isn't working as smart as he should be.

The story compared Fredette to JJ Redick, who needed four seasons to establish himself as the player he is now.

If Jimmer is to get another shot, maybe that's a model to go off of.
