With the expectation that current offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo will be named the new head coach of the New York Giants, ESPNs Adam Schefter is reporting that Joe Philbin is expected to take his place as the OC.

Philbin was fired early this season after the Dolphins got off to a 1-3 start. After three-plus seasons in Miami, Philbin was 24-28 and made no playoff appearances.

Before coaching the Dolphins, Philbin was the offensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers from 2007-2011. He had a top three scoring offense in Green Bay for four of his five years.

Before that, he worked in other offensive positions with the Packers. He came from the college ranks, where he has worked at Iowa, Harvard, Northeastern, Ohio, Allegheny, Merchant Marine, WPI and Tulane.

Philbin is 54-years-old.

As for the move itself, I'm on the fence. We remember the Dolphins being a very mediocre team during Philbin's tenure, but he did have successful offenses in Green Bay.
