ESPN and the New York Daily News broke a story about Joe Torre having discussions with MLB Commissioner Bud Selig about taking an executive position with the league. The post Selig is looking to fill is MLB executive VP of operations.

The position was vacated by Sandy Alderson, who left the league office to become the new General Manager for the New York Mets. Torre has also met with Dodgers GM Ned Colletti and discussed the former manager taking a front office position with the team.
