Josh Beckett has had his fair share of injuries so far this season, but after throwing a little bit today he has officially been cleared to pitch for the American League in Tuesday's All Star game.

Josh Beckett was pulled after just 5 innings in his last start due to a knee injury. Today Beckett threw some at Fenway and is now all clear tp pitch Tuesday at the All Star game in Phoenix.

This is not just welcome news for Beckett himself, but also for the Red Sox pitching staff.  The Red Sox starting rotation is hurting and Beckett's injury was not what they needed.  They also are without Clay Bucholtz, Jon Lester and Daisuke Matsuzaka who are all on the disabled list right now.  Losing Beckett could have caused some real damage to an already hurting lineup.

Beckett probably won't start the 2011 All Star game but his company is most welcomed, especially when the NL has pitchers like Roy Halladay, Tim Lincecum and Cliff Lee, just to name a few.  The All Star game is this Tuesday night from Phoenix, AZ.
