It's been an interesting and challenging season at times for La Salle graduate JP Sportman, but it's going to end in great fashion.

Sportman, who has played well in the Oakland A's system, but has battled injury on multiple occasions this year, will finish the season with a promotion to the AA Midland Rockhounds.

The Rockhounds are looking to defend their Texas League Championship by taking on Northwest Arkansas in a series that starts tomorrow night.

Sportman has hit .298 across two leagues already this year. He's spent most of his time with the Stockton Ports of the California League (High-A) but also played seven games in Rookie ball when rehabbing an injury.

He has three home runs and 27 RBIs on the year to go along with 10 stolen bases.

Sportman missed a lot of time this year. He didn't play from May 6-May 30th and also missed time from June 14-Aug 1.

But he's healthy now and will be with the Rockounds for the Championship run.
