Kahnle Gets the Call Again

Exciting news for the Capital Region today as Shaker High School graduate Tommy Kahnle is back in the Majors. The hard-throwing right-hander was called up by the Chicago White Sox on Thursday.

Kahnle was acquired by the White Sox in the offseason after spending two years with the Colorado Rockies. He spent the 2014 campaign with Colorado and 2015 split between the Rockies and the minors. He had a brief stint as the Colorado closer.

He's thrown in one game for the White Sox this year, registering two walks in a scoreless inning. He was sent down right after he was called up.

Kahnle was drafted by the Yankees before being taken by Colorado in the Rule 5 Draft in 2014. The White Sox own the best record in the American League at 19-10 and Kahnle has an opportunity to be a part of the bullpen that paves the way for closer David Robertson.

Kahnle is one of two Shaker alums in professional baseball. Jeff Hoffman is with the Rockies at the AAA level.
