The Masters is going on.  We golfers love The Masters.  But we golfers watch The Masters, we don't play in it.  And right now, golfers are not playing much at all no matter what in The Capital Region because of the wet, windy and cool weather.  But you can still stay in the golf frame of mind and do these simple things when the game returns:

  1. Start first with the workout routine.  Hit the gym at least three or four times a week for 45-55 minutes.  Make sure you are doing plenty of cardiovascular and conditioning drills.  There is being in shape, and then there is being in basketball shape.  Well guess what?  That pertains to golf as well, and only golfers know what I am talking about.
  2. Also, be sure to hit balls, even if it is inside.  Keep the swing going.  Get into somewhat of an off-season into almost-season rhythm.
  3. And finally, at home or at the office, practice putting.  If you keep your feel of the putter and mental thinking of hitting it to the hole on a steady basis, those first few rounds will feel even more comfortable.
