Kevin Ware of Louisville suffered a gruesome broken leg during Louisville’s Elite Eight win over Duke yesterday. It is being regarded as one of the most horrific injuries in the history of sports.

On the play, Ware was closing out on a three point attempt from Tyler Thornton which led to him landing on his right leg, which snapped unexpectedly and tragically. The video of the play is below and it is extremely graphic.

After the game, several Cardinals said that Ware told his teammates that he’d be fine and to “just win the game.” Upon doing so, his teammates took turns sporting his jersey while accepting and celebrating their Midwest Region championship.

As basketball fans and more importantly, as people, we wish Kevin Ware a successful and speedy recovery.
