There's no question that the New York Knicks have had trouble landing players in the NBA free agency so far this offseason, with its headlining signing being Arron Afflalo, and Robin Lopez.

Reports are starting to surface that the Knicks could be in play for Denver Nuggets 27-year-old point guard Ty Lawson.  Lawson would be a great upgrade for the Knicks as another scorer with Carmelo Anthony. The two played with each other in Denver from 2009-2011 when Anthony was traded to the Knicks.

Lawson put up a career-high 9.6 assists per game in 2014-15, but his ppg dropped to 15.2.  The trade would most likely deal Jose Calderone, who was traded to the Knicks last season as a part of the Tyson Chandler and Raymond Felton trade. The Nuggets seem to be aggressively shopping the point guard after the point guard was arrested for his second DUI in the calender year, and after drafting Emmanual Mudiay they are set long term in the position.

If this trade was to happen the Knicks could find themselves with a very savvy and young backcourt, including last seasons breakout player Langston Galloway and recently drafted Jerian Grant.
