Today officially begins a new chapter in Yankees history, Life without Derek Jeter. I know some people are thinking "relax Jeff, it's just one guy." Well my friend I remember before that one guy. I remember THE EIGHTIES!!!! I also remember the early nineties. Teams full of talent but couldn't win. Players like Rickey Henderson, Dave Winfield, Jessie Barfield, Jack Clark, Willie Randolph and of course Don Mattingly but still no World Series wins.

So 1995 rolls around and there's light at the end of the tunnel, you can see a team poised to make a run. Well until the strike ended the season early. 1995 was just a tease for what was about to happen 1996! My single favorite Yankees team of all time. After waiting most of my life for the Yankees to be great again, it finally happened, Derek Jeter, Bernie Williams, Jorge Posada and  Andy Pettitte teamed up with veterans like Paul O'Neil, Tino Martinez and Wade Boggs to bring glory back to New York.

The rosters changed over the nest 18 - 19 years but winning(forget the last two seasons) and "The Captain" Derek Jeter were a constant. No clue who will become the next leadr of the New York Yankees but I hope we find him soon.

Enjoy opening day everyone!
