Even on this weekend before Christmas, we can find the roar of stock car racing engines.

Friday marked the beginning of a three-day open test session at Daytona International Speedway for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards.

The defending ARCA 200 Daytona winner from early this year topped the speed charts on Friday to kick off the weekend of practice.

John Wes Townley in a Venturini Motorsports Toyota was fastest overall in both test sessions Friday. It was an extremely busy day at the "World Center of Racing" as 58 drivers posted time during the two sessions.

Two local drivers from Ballston Spa are among the drivers who are participating in today's test sessions at Daytona under sunny skies and 80 degree temperatures. Ed Pompa and Richard Doheny are in the No. 10A and 10B Chevrolet team cars.

Daytona testing for ARCA continues this weekend with two test sessions each day.
