Last night, the George Washington University Colonials captured the NIT championship at Madison Square Garden with a 76-60 win over Valpo.

The Colonials, of the Atlantic 10, won their school record 28th game.

It's the first postseason championship of any kind for the Colonials. On the sideline for GW is a name very familiar to Capital Region fans, Carmen Maciariello.

He is a Shenendehowa and Siena graduate who is also a member of the Capital District Basketball Hall of Fame. He also previously coached at Siena for one season.

He joined us on Thursday in anticipation of the NIT title game and told us how his team could beat Valpo. He also talked to us about the thrill of playing in Madison Square Garden and gave us his thoughts on the NCAA Tournament as we head into the Final Four.
