DETROIT (AP) — Chris Young and Stephen Drew homered in a three-run seventh and Nathan Eovaldi earned his first win with the New York Yankees, 5-2 over the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday night.

Eovaldi (1-0) gave up a run on eight hits and a walk in seven-plus innings. Eovaldi started the eighth, but was removed after allowing a leadoff double to Alex Avila.

Eovaldi wasn't dominant, but got four double plays. Three were routine, but he started the fourth one with a blind snag of a liner hit right at his chest. Eovaldi then flipped to first to easily double off J.D. Martinez.

The Tigers scored in the ninth when Andrew Miller walked Nick Castellanos and Rajai Davis to force in a run. He then struck out Jose Iglesias for his fifth save.

Kyle Lobstein (1-1) yielded one run and three hits in six innings. He walked four. Four Tigers relievers combined to allow three runs in the seventh, letting the Yankees pull away.
