The road to a 4th straight MAAC Tournament championship will not be easy for Siena.

The Saints earned the 7th seed in the upcoming conference tournament and will now have to win 4 games in 4 days to return to the NCAA Tourney.

The 7th seeded Saints will play 10th seeded Manhattan in the 1st Round of the MAAC Tournament on Friday night at 9:30pm.  The MAAC Tournament will be played in Bridgeport this year (Fairfield is the host school).

Despite the loss to Fairfield on Friday night, the Saints still had an outside chance at the 6th seed.  But that all came to an end on Sunday afternoon when Canisius defeated Loyola to get that 6th spot.

Siena finished the regular season with a 12-17 overall record and a 8-10 mark in league play.

Siena has faced Manhattan in its first MAAC Tournament game in 4 out of the last 5 years. The Saints won the previous three meetings - including last year’s 78-61 home win in the MAAC Quarterfinals.  The Jaspers defeated the Saints, 84-81, in Riverdale earlier this month.

The winner of the Siena/Manhattan game will advance to play the No. 2 seed (still TBD) at 7:30 pm Saturday night.

Siena is the only school to win four games to capture the MAAC Championships - they did it as the 7th seed in 2002. Since then, no team seeded higher than No. 6 has reached the MAAC semifinals.
