Over the weekend, I posed the question as to whether or not the Manchester Derby was the best rivalry in all of sports. After Sunday's thrilling 3-2 match won by Manchester United and shameful interaction between Manchester United players and Manchester City fans, my guess is that the world's best sporting rivalry will only get more heated in the near future.

Above is United defender Rio Ferdinand being struck in the face with a coin by a supporter of City, an incident that has lead to nine arrests and a black eye on the game of international football at the moment.

Many people who are not fans of the sport cite riots and hooligan fans as one main reason. An unfortunate action by only a few fans in a country who doesn't normally let things get to that level will only further that stereotype.
