Former Xavier standout point guard and Schenectady, NY native Mark Lyons has decided he will play for the Arizona Wildcats next season. Last month Lyons announced he would transfer from the Xavier program that went to the Sweet 16 last season before losing to a #3 seeded Baylor team.

Lyons was a third team all A-10 selection in the 2011-12 season. He averaged 15.1 points per game, 3.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.

Lyons will play for head coach Sean Miller who was previously the Xavier head coach and recruited Lyons out of high school.

Lyons other choice was the defending National Champion Kentucky Wildcats who according to reports, he visited last week.

Lyons and star guard Tu Holloway made up one of the most prolific back courts in college basketball last season. Lyons has one year of eligibility left and will be able to play next season because he has already received his degree.
