Mets Manager Terry Collins has never been one to go with the flow. His decision on Thursday night was a little wacky, but it worked in historic fashion.

Heading into the 8th inning, with his team up 3-2, Collins opted to go to the bullpen and bring out closer Jeurys Familia, instead of sticking with Noah Syndergaard, who had just gotten the three outs in the 7th.

It makes sense to go with a closer towards the end of the game except for the fact that Familia had never recorded a six out save in his entire career. In the end? Familia got it done.

The Dodgers attempted to make an interesting storyline by putting Chase Utley in the game for the first batter of the ninth, but he popped out.

The difference in the game was Daniel Murphy for the Mets, who hit a home run to right field in the top of the 6th. Murphy became only the sixth player in MLB post-season history to hit a single, double, home run with a stolen base.

Game 1 of the NLCS, Cubs at Mets, can be heard at 8:07pm ET Saturday night on 104.5 The Team.
