Miami Dolphins’ receiver Brandon Marshall is one of the league’s best wideouts, but his erratic off-the-field behavior over the years led one blogger to refer to him as “the NFL’s version of Lindsay Lohan.”

However, now new reports are giving some explanation for Marshall’s strange behavior: he was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder earlier this year.

The disorder stems from unstable personal relationships, according to reports, which could explain an April incident when Marshall’s wife allegedly stabbed him during a domestic dispute. He’s been seeing therapists since he entered the league, but only came forward about the illness this weekend. “By no means am I all healed or fixed,” Marshall told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
