While it’s not likely at all that the New York Knicks and LA Clippers could pull off a Carmelo Anthony for Blake Griffin trade (for many reasons), that doesn’t mean that media around the country can’t froth at the mouth at the idea.

Mike Greenberg of Mike & Mike on 104.5 The Team ESPN Radio on Monday morning called it, “a trade that would make enormous sense on both sides.”

“The Clippers desperately need someone else who can handle part of the scoring load in the playoffs,” said Greenberg. “As good as Blake Griffin is, he’s not that. The guy that is that? Carmelo Anthony.

“Carmelo Anthony are best friends. They talked about playing with each other and we thought it would be in New York well maybe now it will be in LA.”

“I think it would be great,” said Mike Golic. “Carmelo and Paul together would be fantastic. This one would be work. I absolutely think it would.”

While Mike & Mike give it thumbs up, the Clippers would have to have a long-term commitment from Anthony, who’s in the last year of his deal. Plus, other reports indicate that because of the Griffin’s youthful age that the Clippers would want an additional piece.

Even though it won’t happen, it sure is fun to talk about, no?
