Carmelo Anthony’s upcoming free agency is something that not only us in the media are talking about but even head coach Mike Woodson got in on the action Friday on ESPN New York 98.7 with Stephen A Smith and Ryan Ruocco.

“I think at the end of the day Melo will make the right decision,” said Woodson. “What that decision is going to be, I don't know. But I'd like to think that, being his coach, and being around him the last three years, that he'll stay in New York.”

ESPN New York’s Ohm Youngmisuk called into 104.5 The Team last week and also expressed optimism that the Knicks would sign ‘Melo.

The Knicks’ superstar has publicly been back and forth on the decision, most recently stating that he would take less money to stay in New York.

"It would sure make it a lot better if we're able to get into the playoffs,” said Woodson.

“I'm a big Knick fan, I want him to stay in New York, it would be nice."

That’s ironic by itself as well because currently at 21-35 and 2-8 in their last 10, the only thing Woodson might be next season is a fan. His team needs to find some way to make some positives happen – for both ‘Melo and Woodson’s future to be more secure in the Big Apple.
