The Monmouth University men's basketball time is getting a lot of national play in the first weeks of the season. Sure, the Hawks have beaten Notre Dame, UCLA and USC this year, but they also have a bench that is just as successful as the starting five.

Check out the Hawks bench, which has become known for its dramatic celebrations:

It's a nice national story, but it also has local appeal: Monmouth competes in the MAAC, so you'll have a chance to see the bench theatrics on display when the Hawks visit Siena on Feb. 1.

Furthermore, the Hawks have a local player on the team in junior Collin Stewart. From Mekeel Christian, Stewart is averaging 9.7 points per game this year. He had 19 at UCLA, 12 at USC, and 10 against Dayton. He's been in double-figures three of the first six games.

Stewart is from Scotia. Could you imagine a Tartans team with him and Joe Cremo both on it?
