Well it seems the troubles of the New England Patriots continues to pile up. Now it is defensive back Alfonzo Dennard who has run afoul of the law.

Dennard was arrested in Nebraska of driving under the influence. But Dennards troubles seem to be mounting.

Reports claim that Dennard was arrested just days before he was drafted by the Pats in the 7th round of the 2010 draft.

Dennard was arrested for felony assault on a police officer in Lincoln, Nebraska. Dennard played for Nebraska. His latest arrest also took place just outside of Lincoln.

In the assault case, several members of the Patriots and Huskers wrote letters to the judge hoping to soften the sentence. Those letters came from Bo Pellini, head coach of Nebraska. Also making a case for Dennard at that time was Bill Belichick.

Dennard latest brush with the law could have his probation rescinded. He is also charged with refusal to take a chemical test and another traffic infraction although the specifics of that were not released.

The Patriots somewhat clean image has been tested this off-season, most notably by the murder charges against tight end Aaron Hernandez. The Patriots cut Hernandez right after he was officially arrested and charged with shooting and killing his " friend" Oden Lloyd.

In addition many claim the NFL itself is becoming a rouge league with well over 30 arrests during the off-season. If nothing else the notion that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is the toughest sheriff in sports and has cleaned up the NFL have proven false, not that I ever thought they were true
