A really tough day for sports fans as we woke up to the news that Muhammad Ali has died at the age of 74.

In the rink, Ali was 56-5 overall and 22-3 in title fights. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1990. He was a gold medalist (1960) as well.

He was named THE RING Magazine fighter of the year five times. But his greatest impacts could have come out of the ring, as he was also a humanitarian and a role model. He earned the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005. That is the highest honor that a civilian can get.

Perhaps the best way to sum up Ali's impact is in this way:

I don't know who else is on the list (Jordan, Nicklaus, Gretzky, Ruth, Serena Williams are all possibilities), but Ali definitely is. And that says enough right there.

RIP to the Greatest. RIP to the Champ.
