Brandon Spikes recorded 11 tackles in the New England Patriots' AFC Championship Game loss to the Baltimore Ravens. He is also a very interesting follow on Twitter. However, following his team's elimination from Super Bowl contention he got a little ornery via the social network, telling a fan to "die please" in response to a comment that he is too happy after losing such a big game.

At this point athletes need to know that what they say on social networks is going to be seen by thousands, if not millions, of people. Spikes, who has over 300,000 followers, should know better than to say something such as that where so many people can see it, screengrab it, then write a snarky article about it, which the entire internet is going to do after this social media snafu by Spikes.

Will this lead to a more subdued Spikes on Twitter in the future? Probably not, but hopefully it is the last time he tells anyone to die on it.
