Niskayuna Lacrosse in Class A State Semis

The Niskayuna boys' lacrosse team is looking for its first ever New York State championship this season, and they are in a position to accomplish that feat.

The Silver Warriors are in the state final four at the Class A level and take the field tonight in the state semifinals against Syosset (Long Island). Game time is 5:30 p.m. at Middletown HS.

We spoke to head coach Mike Vorgang this morning about what his team needs to do to be successful in tonight's game. Face-off and goalie play will be key he said.

Furthermore, we asked Vorgang, the only coach in school history, how he has built the program from nothing into a nationally-recognized program.

Niskayuna routinely sends players to top-flight Division 1 programs including North Carolina, Virginia, and Duke.

Aidan O'Brien, a senior on this year's team, is headed to UNC and was invited to try out the Under-19 United States National Team.
