The North Carolina men's lacrosse team captured the 2016 NCAA Division I championship yesterday after beating Maryland in a 14-13 overtime classic.

Goz and I were on the air during the game but based on what Twitter had to say, it was one of the best games of all-time in any sport.

Great news for us in the Capital Region because that means that Niskayuna natives Luke Goldstock and Aidan O'Brien are now national champions as well! Goldstock had four goals in the championship game.

We spoke to him on Capital Region Sports Saturday a few weeks ago and will look to have him on again.

Goldstock and O'Brien aren't the only Capital Region natives to have won a championship this weekend: LeMyone captured the Division II title and the Dolphins have multiple Albany natives, including a pair of top scorers in Shen grads Brian Rogers and Mike Jenkins, on their roster.
