Norm Macdonald’s New Show Takes on Sports
Norm is back baby! I have been in love with his stand up and delivery since I thought paint chips made adequate between meal snacks. From Saturday Night Live to “Dirty Work” to his crappy sitcom that only got ratings because it was on after “The Drew Carry Show” I’ve enjoyed his whole career. And now it’s time for the next step.
It has been announced that Norm will be doing a sports talk show on Comedy Central starting next Tuesday. They are billing it as the Daily Show for sports. This is exactly what they billed the failed Onion Sports Dome that was as well received as a Star Jones sex tape.
Comedy Central (the CC for short) has been trying for years to expand there base from dudes who like jokes, to dudes who like jokes and sports. I for one welcome a well written sports comedy show, but I don’t want to see a train wreck that only has rights to air WNBA clips mixed in with coverage of the world of professional eating. It’s not that I don’t like making fun of the WNBA, I just think all the jokes have been said (I get it they can’t dunk, move on).
Making Norm Macdonald the host is a step in the write direction I mean just check out these gems from when he hosted the 1998 ESPY awards. I mean check this out
The jokes are still funny, I mean ripping on Tiger, making a few OJ jokes the stuff is gold. If I could have that every week I’d be happy man.
