Norv Turner will remain head coach of the San Diego Chargers heading into next season.  The obvious question would be, why?Turner hasn't succeeded in the playoffs as the Chargers' head coach.  San Diego has the NFL's No. 2-ranked offense and top-ranked defense this year, but they've already been eliminated from playoff contention.  They're regressing.  It's time to pull the plug on the Norv Turner regime.

Team president Dean Spanos says otherwise.  Below are Dean's comments regarding the decision to keep Norv Turner as Chargers' head coach.  I added a few of my own comments following Dean's.

"The easiest thing in the world is to start over."  Sometimes "easy" makes sense Dean.
"Who the hell do I go hire?"  A better coach.  Finding a better coach than Norv isn't that tough.
"Blow the whole thing up?"  Now you're thinkin'.
"We're a pretty good team but we have to make the right moves."  Not making a move is the wrong move.
"I'm not afraid to make changes."  Just not smart enough to?
"We have a good foundation here."  You have a good foundation with a bad coach in charge.

Norv Turner has a great offensive mind.  He's a solid play-caller.  He's a very good coordinator.  He's a bad head coach.  Dean Spanos and the Chargers have yet to realize this.
