Oak Hill Flight Paramedic a ‘Hometown Hero’

This week’s “Hometown Hero,” Aidan O’Connor Jr., of Oak Hill, works as a flight paramedic for Lifenet of NY at the base located at the South Albany airport.

Oak Hill man named a “Hometown Hero”

Aidan began his career volunteering for his local ambulance company and fire department when he was just a teenager. When Aidan is not working as a flight paramedic, he is the President of Greene County EMS. Greene County EMS is a “fly car” based paramedic agency that serves all of Greene County, where Aidan grew up.

Aidan works very hard to ensure that everyone in the EMS community is safe and well-educated to help his community in the best possible way.

Aidan also loves to be involved in local politics to advocate for and help others to better understand what it is that those in EMS do. He even volunteers as an advocate for a national EMS advocacy group and has gone to Washington D.C. to spread awareness. While in D.C., he helped advocate for and support bills that would affect EMS organizations not just in our community and state, but nationwide.

Because of his hard work and dedication, Aidan has been recognized at the local, county, and even regional levels for not only his compassion and medical care, but also for his leadership abilities.

As part of the “Hometown Heroes” series, we’ve partnered with County Waste, Latham Ford, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region and Awards by Walsh to celebrate local unsung heroes for their good deeds and honorable work. Thanks, Gerald, for all that you do!
