As a society we are enamored with things like "Throwback Thursday," "Flashback Friday," "TimeHop" etc, etc.

Well today, a great anniversary pops up in the form of one of the most famous baseball plays in history.

Fourteen years ago today Yankees legend Derek Jeter made the famous flip in the 2001 American League Division Series against the Oakland Athletics.

WATCH it one more time:

This play is just part of the Derek Jeter story. From his 3,000th hit being a home run, to his catch against the Red Sox while running into the stands, to his walk-off hit in his final Yankee Stadium at-bat, Jeter was seemingly involved in countless big moments.

This play helped the Yankees advance to the ALCS that year, where they beat my Seattle Mariners. The Yanks fell to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the World Series that year in a heartbreaking Game 7.

Jeter retired at the end of the 2014 season.
