Yesterday was the two year anniversary of the Union College hockey team's national championship, and today we get another "On this Day" courtesy of now-former UAlbany basketball player Peter Hooley...

Hooley just ended his collegiate career for the Great Danes as one of the best players in program history. He's a top-five scorer in program history and also went to three NCAA Tournaments. This year, he led the Danes to the College Basketball Invitational (CBI), where they were defeated by Ohio in overtime in the first round.

Perhaps more important than his contributions on the court was the connection he had with the fans in the community. I can't remember an athlete that fans have connected with more in recent memory, actually.

Hooley also received appreciation for his decision on Twitter from the UAlbany community.

Hooley has aspirations of playing professionally, he just recently signed with an Australian agency to manage him.
