The Yankees would hit three home runs, but it wasn't enough as they would lose to the Orioles Monday night 5-4.

The Yankees would get on the scoreboard first when Eric Chavez would hit an RBI single off of Miguel Gonzalez to score Raul Ibanez in the bottom of the 2nd. The lead wouldn't last long as Freddy Garcia would give up a home run to the first batter in the top of the 3rd,  Wilson Betemit.

The O's would score 2 more runs in the top of the 5th with a pair of sacrifice flies by Omar Quintanilla and Nick Markakis. The Yankees would get one of those runs back in the bottom of the inning thanks to a home run shot by Raul Ibanez for this 14 of the year.

Top of the 7th Markakis would get his second RBI of the game with a double that would score Quintanilla. Markakis would score shortly thereafter thanks to J.J. Hardy. Mark Teixera would hurt himself trying to make the play on the Hardy hit and would leave the game. Chavez would hit his 9th Homer of the year in the bottom of the inning to make it 5-3. That was followed by Ichiro Suzuki who would hit his 1st home run as a Yankee and the 100th of his career to make it a one run game.

The Yankees would make some noise in the bottom of the ninth but couldn't get the job done as O's closer Jim Johnson would strike out Russell Martin for the final out.

Following the game, Manager Joe Girardi gave an update on Teixeria. He injured his left wrist on the play that took him out of the game and will have an MRI Tuesday.
