Patriots Defensive End Andre Carter's season is over as he was officially placed on the Injured Reserve list.

It's never a good sign when a player is carted off the field during a game and that is what happened on Sunday in the Patriots victory over the Broncos. Carter injured his left quadriceps in the first quarter.

This is another heavy blow to an already depeleted defense that has given up the most yards in the NFL. Carter was a key component of the team's pass rush. He lead the team with 10 sacks on the season. He also set a Patriots single game record with 4 sacks against the New York Jets

With one Carter gone, the Patriots may look to another to take over. Markell Carter, a sixth round draft pick from this year is being eyed as a replacement from the practice squad.
