Joe Vellano has been on quite the roller coaster over the last year. From undrafted free agent to Vince Wilfork's replacement on the Patriots starting defensive front, the former CBA standout defensive tackle has had himself quite an eventful 2013.

Vellano, a Clifton Park native who was part of the 2006 Section 2 champion CBA football team, was an All American at Maryland, but was overlooked by all 32 teams and went undrafted after his senior season. Undeterred, Joe worked hard to make the Patriots 53 man roster, and now finds himself at the center of a banged up Patriots defense that figures to contend for the AFC title.
