Phil Hughes set out today looking for his first win of the season, and he gets it.  The Yankees beat the Blue Jays 7-2 and notch 11 hits against the Toronto pitching staff.  So the bombers split the series against Toronto 2-2.

Brett Gardner and Curtis Granderson each had great games at the plate today. Gardner was 3-4 hitting and stole 2 bases.  Granderson had himself a nice day.  He was 2-5 with 3 RBI's and one of those hits was a double. Robinson Cano, Nick Swisher and Russell Martin each notched an RBI on the day as well.  So after two games of struggle the Yankees are able to get right back into it.

That win puts the Yankees 1 game back of the Red Sox, who are coming off of a 9-5 win over the Rays.  The Sox and Rays play tonight as well.  The Yankees open up a series against Tampa Bay starting tomorrow night from Tropicana Field.
