Arizona SF Stanley Johnson was drafted by the Detroit Pistons with the No.8 overall pick. Johnson believed before the draft that he was " the best player in the draft".

Johnson will be a good fit next to Ketavious Caldwell Pope, and Brandon Jennings in Stan Van Gundy's high paced offense.

Johnson has an NBA body and toughness to go along with a coveted aggressiveness. His jump shot is adequate and he has had trouble finishing at the rim in Arizona. Johnson was conflicted about deciding to declare for the draft or stay at Arizona. He wanted to win a NCAA championship for Sean Miller and staying could have improved his draft stock.

Johnson played one season at Arizona and averaged 13.8 PPG to go along with 6.5 RPG and 1.5 SPG. He was a McDonald’s All-American in 2014, and was the Newcomer of the year in the Pac-12 in 2015. Johnson also won the inaugural Julius Erving award in 2015. The 19-year-old stands 6’7 and 242 lbs. He also has a 7’0 wingspan.
