What a great night for the Rangers and their fans. Beating up on the Flyers clinches the Eastern Conference for the Blue Shirts but it was much more then that!

The 5-3 win over the Flyers also capped of a perfect 6-0 season series for the Rangers. That's right not a point for Philly vs NY this year. For a Rangers fan that's so sweet. The Flyers have been a long time antagonist and to beat them inside, outside (New Years Classic) In philly, In New York is special.

All toll the Rangers outscore the Flyers 24-11 in the 6 contests. Only 1 of those games was a 1 goal difference. That's domination.

The Rangers pelted over rated golie Ilya Bryzgalov for 4 big one's in the 1st period then coasted from there. Marion Gaborik led the goal scoring parade with his 41st. Even more encouraging is the Rangers Power Play, a weakness on this club, lit the lamp 3 times in 5 tries.

Now it's onto the really good stuff. If it's me I rest Henrik Lundqvist for the remained of the season, which is 2 games left. No reason to take any chances on injury and the King has played a season high 11 straight games. let him take a sojurn to Vegas for a few days or the Florida sun, come back Sunday and get ready to chase the hardest trophy in sport to capture the Stanley Cup.

Right now the Washington Capitals hold that 8th spot. I like the Rangers over either Washington or Buffalo but prefer the erratic and stale Caps over the Sabers who came all the way back from 3 down to defeat Toronto Tuesday night. That ties them for the last spot in points but they trail by 1 vistory against the Caps.

For Ranger fans who say push for the Presidents cup I say who cares. The march for the cup is much more important. Rest your players and get ready for the grind boys. Congratulations on a great regular season. The big fish awaits!!!
