Okay, let me get you up to speed on how beef began before the game even started. Pete DeBoer, the Devils Head Coach, sent out his more physical 4th line to start the game and perhaps attempted to rough up the Rangers 1st line. Rangers coach John Tortorella took exception to this. In order to counter this move, Tortorella sent out three of his enforcers to make it very clear that they would not be bullied. What ensued after as soon as the whistle blew was Stu Bickel fighting Ryan Carter, while Mike Rupp exchanged punches with Eric Boulton and Cam Janssen battled Brandon Prust. Not only was this opening spar unique, it was also pretty bloody and entertaining. And, to top it all off, the Rangers won the fight, took the game and clinched a playoff birth. Not a bad day at the office…
